According to key figures in the global diamond industry, the Third International Rough Diamond Conference to be held in Israel on February 11 – 12, 2008 will provide an unprecedented opportunity for dialogue between diamond producers and manufacturers.
At a time of rapid changes in the diamond supply pipeline, the conference will provide a platform for the discussion of new models of rough supply. The conference will bring together representatives of all major diamond producing countries, as well as leading mining and exploration companies.
Varda Shine, Managing Director of the Diamond Trading Company said that the conference would provide an opportunity for the DTC to explain its new strategy and vision to a wider audience. She said, “DTC are proud to be participating in the Israel Rough Diamond Conference in 2008, which will be an exciting year for the diamond industry. We look forward to sharing our vision at the conference.”
“Our new commercial strategy brings together our commitment to beneficiation and our desire to work with those companies best able to add value to the diamonds we sell.”
“Following the announcement in December of the results of the application process for supply in South Africa, London and Canada, the DTC has a world-class list of 79 diamond companies, comprising all areas of expertise and business models.”
Moti Ganz, Chairman of the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI), which is organizing the conference, said that he was gratified by the overwhelming interest of industry leaders in attending the event. “We are seeking to have this conference represent all of the entities in the rough diamond world. To date we have had positive responses from most industry players.”
Ganz added, “Israel’s central position as rough diamond consumer – importing annually approximately 45% of all rough sold, as well as its reputation for holding world-class conferences, ensures overwhelming participation in this event. I am convinced that this conference will mark a milestone in the global rough industry.”
