IDL issues world’s first Arabic diamond certificate
by Jo Black
Dubai-based International Diamond Laboratories has become the world’s first issuer of Arabic-language Diamond Certificates. IDL presented the first such certificate to Tamjid Abdullah, deputy managing director of Damas Jewellery, for a 24-carat pear shaped diamond.
IDL, an initiative of Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, provides diamond certification services from its headquarters in the UAE, and branch offices in Antwerp and Mumbai.
Ahmed bin Sulayem, vice chairman of IDL said that creativity and customization are of high strategic significance for IDL as they enable us to build on our service offering to better serve our clients.
IDL’s Arabic language certificates are recognized worldwide. For international trade purposes, the certificate mentions the diamond grade and color in English, while the remaining aspects such as the weight, cut, and clarity are listed in Arabic.
