HRD Antwerp highlighted presence at Macau show with seminar about synthetic and treated diamonds

HRD Antwerp NV, which provides grading, gemmological, educational, technological and research services to the international diamond and jewellery industries, highlighted its attendance at the first Macau Jewellery and Watch by providing a seminar for trade show attendees about synthetic and treated diamonds.

The Macau Jewellery & Watch Fair, which held from January 10 to January 13 at the Cotai Strip Convention and Exhibition Centre at The Venetian Macao, premieres in 2008 was the year’s first Asian trade fair for the jewellery and watch industry. HRD Antwerp exhibited at booth P24 in Hall D, as part of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre Pavilion.

A seminar, which is entitled “Synthetic and Treated Gem Diamonds: Present Status,” held on January 11, 2:30 PM-3:30 PM, in the Sicily Room at the Venetian Macao. It was presented by Dr. Jef Van Royen, a senior Research Scientist and Scientific Advisor at HRD Research. Dr. Van Royen has carried out extensive research in the origin of colour diamonds and the identification of synthetic and treated diamonds, and he has published several key papers on these topics. He joined HRD Research in 1983, following many years as a research scientist at the University of Antwerp, where he obtained his doctorate in theoretical solid state physics.
