Diamonds North receives diamonds results

by Jo Black

Diamonds North Resources Ltd. announces favourable diamond counts from the Qavvik-5 and Qavvik-6 kimberlites located on the Company’s 100% owned Amaruk property in the Pelly Bay Diamond District of Nunavut. A total of 130 diamonds have been recovered from 103.4 kilograms of Qavvik-5 and 118 diamonds were recovered from a 107.7 kilogram sample of Qavvik-6. The Qavvik-5 and 6 kimberlites appear to form a complex with a geophysical expression of approximately 5 hectares in size. In addition, there are several adjacent untested targets that may increase the potential size.

Samples were collected using a reverse circulation/percussion drill. As a result of the above diamond counts from both Qavvik-5 and 6 kimberlites, plans for collecting larger samples with a core drill are underway. These plans also include drilling on the Qavvik-4 kimberlite (see News Release NR08-02, January 14th, 2008) which is only 500 metres from the Qavvik-5 and 6 kimberlites. Several new high priority targets exist within one kilometre of Qavvik-6 that will also be tested in 2008.

To date, only diamonds on or above the 0.3mm screen have been described. The Company has requested full descriptions of all recovered diamonds. Preliminary review shows a high proportion of white clear octahedral diamonds. The largest diamond recovered in Qavvik-6 is a 1.2mm x 0.88mm x 0.30mm fragment.
