Sola adds new kimberlite discovery

Sola Resource Corp. has intersected a new kimberlite approximately 3 kilometers west of the Carolina kimberlite diamond deposit.

The new kimberlite discovery lies approximately 60 meters upstream from 2.3-carat gem quality diamond recovered during a kimberlite indicator mineral (KIM) sampling program. This kimberlite discovery is a direct result of the integration of the stream sediment survey data with ground-based geophysical surveys and satellite imagery interpretation.

The Kimberlite was intersected by the drill beneath 10 meters of sand. The initial mineralogical test of the altered kimberlite produced numerous pyropes, ilmenites, chromites and chromium diopsides. Drilling is continuing to determine the surface area of the new Kimberlite. Concurrently, a trenching program will start to collect a large sample of kimberlite to determine its diamond content.

The new Kimberlite is considered to be the source of the gem quality diamonds produced from the Chiroc alluvial workings, which are located downstream from the new Kimberlite. The discovery is the result of detailed stream sediment sampling that followed up on the known alluvial workings. The stream-sediment sampling program produced numerous KIMs and diamonds. An examination of diamond production from the Chiroc alluvial workings exhibited gem-quality diamonds of excellent shape, colour and clarity.

As previously announced, the KIM surveys and ground-based geophysical surveys in the area have produced numerous anomalies. The Company continues to drill-test these targets in order to further define the Carolina cluster.

Thomas Kovacs, President of Sola Resource Corp. said, the Company has previously stated that it believes in the potential for a kimberlite cluster around the Espigao d’Oeste area. This latest discovery not only proves that a significant cluster may exist, but lends credence to the production model of several diamond-bearing kimberlites feeding a central diamond recovery plant.
