Diamondcorp strengthens management

DiamondCorp plc has strengthened its core management team with two senior appointments.
Mr Steve West has been appointed to the position of Head of Business Development and Mr Paul Sharples has been appointed to the position of Head of Mining. Both positions will be based at the Company’s Lace Mine near Kroonstad in the Free State province of South Africa.
Both appointees will be members of DiamondCorp’s Executive Committee (’ExCo’) and report to the Company’s CEO, Mr Paul Loudon.
Mr West is a mechanical engineer with more than 30 years experience in the mining industry, predominantly in diamonds. He commenced his career with De
Beers Consolidated Mines in Kimberley and held a number of senior positions with the Trans Hex Group Limited, including Group Marine Manager and Group Project Manager. Prior to joining DiamondCorp, Mr West was Mine Manager of Gem Diamonds Limited’s Cempaka diamond mine in Indonesia.
Mr Sharples is a chartered mining engineer with more than 30 years experience in the mining industry. He commenced his career with Anglo American Corporation in Welkom and has held senior operational and consulting positions for a range of mining companies and mineral consulting firms, including Gencor Billiton, Murray
& Roberts, Bateman Engineering and Mintek. He has been involved in the development and management of significant underground and opencast gold and
diamond operations in South Africa, Brazil, DRC and Namibia. Mr Sharples is currently General Manager of the Lace Diamond Mine.
DiamondCorp CEO, Paul Loudon said, the appointments come ahead of the next phase of growth for DiamondCorp. Having successfully commissioned Phase One at the Lace Diamond Mine, the company is now accelerating Phase Two development of the underground mine. At the same time, we are looking at a number of growth opportunities through joint ventures and acquisitions. As members of DiamondCorp’s Executive Committee, Steve and Paul will be key contributors to this growth process.
