Sanatana finds new Kimberlite

by Jo Black

Sanatana Diamonds Inc. has intersected a new kimberlite, Dharma Uttar (in keeping with Indian, Hindu theme, “Uttar” means north in Hindi), adjacent to, and north of the Dharma kimberlite discovered in 2007.

The current drill hole was collared in kimberlite at a dip of 60 degrees and azimuth of 290 degrees, and is currently drilling at 40 metres in pyroclastic kimberlite. A previous vertical drill hole was collared 25 metres to the southwest of this hole and it clipped this kimberlite, intersecting kimberlite at 73.5 metres to 75.8 metres. Drilling in the current hole will continue until it exits kimberlite.

Drilling will continue at Dharma and Dharma Uttar until their rough size and outline is determined, and until enough sample (500kg to 1000kg) has been recovered from each major kimberlite unit for microdiamond analysis.

This new kimberlite discovery is part of our systematic exploration program which is focused on defining the size and membership of the kimberlite field around the Dharma discoveries. This program is primarily driven by geophysics: drill testing magnetic, EM and gravity anomalies. However, till sampling shows evidence of several other indicator mineral sources in the Greenhorn area distal to Dharma.

The drill program to date has been hampered by a lack of water for drilling. Although there are many lakes in the area, most are shallow and are frozen to bottom. Drilling can only occur near the deeper lakes and therefore many of the higher priority targets remain untested.
