Dianor recovers 1286 diamonds

by Jo Black

Dianor Resources Inc. announces that diamond results have been received from the SRC laboratory for a further twenty four (24) rock samples from the Company’s 100% owned PEM property, located 70 kilometres south of Radisson, Quebec.

A single rock sample of conglomerate, weighing 34.75 kilograms, collected from the centre of the PEM property, contained one thousand two hundred and eighty six (1,286) diamonds including twenty six (26) coloured diamonds. The reported diamonds includes six (6) pink; fourteen (14) amber and six (6) yellow coloured stones. Natural fancy coloured diamonds are very rare and expensive.

A previously announced, 34.65 kilogram rock sample from an outcrop 1.25km to the north east contained five hundred and forty two (542) diamonds and its duplicate sample contained seven (7) purple diamonds. Purple is one of the rarest and most desirable colours. The conglomerates are aged between 2.716 and 2.733 billion years making them unique and amongst the oldest diamond bearing occurrence in the world.

The pink and amber diamonds are described by SRC as ranging from faint, very light, to light pink/amber with the majority having octahedroid shapes. The majority of the yellow stones occur as cubes. The size of the coloured diamonds ranged from the smallest at 0.10mm x 0.08mm x 0.06mm to the largest at 0.50mm x 0.48mm x 0.42 mm with the diamonds remaining on the following sieve sizes: +75, +106, +150, +300 and +425 microns. The largest diamond recovered was a colourless, clear octahedron, measuring 2.10mm x 1.54mm x 1.22 mm from this sample.
