Sola Resource updates on Carolina kimberlite progressing

Sola Resource Corp., a Canadian listed company actively exploring a known bedrock diamond deposit in Brazil (the Carolina Kimberlite pipe), as well as exploring for other occurrences of diamonds, announce that its 20,000 tonne bulk sampling and testing program on the diamond-bearing Carolina kimberlite pipe near Espigao d’Oeste in the State of Rondonia, Brazil is continuing to progress extremely well.

The bulk-sampling program is currently focusing upon the outcropping saprolitic horizon of altered (weathered) kimberlite which lies on top of the hard rock kimberlite body. This initial program is designed to test the diamond contents of the various phases of saprolitic kimberlite, with a view to an initial, lower-cost program of open pit mining of these diamond-bearing surficial materials. Hard-rock open pit mining of the unweathered kimberlite would thus constitute a later, second phase of planning.

The bulk samples excavated from the saprolites are being processed in Sola’s 400-tpd jig plant on-site at the Carolina pipe. The jig concentrates are subsequently being stored and then processed using a grease table to recover diamonds from various sieve fractions. This method is proving highly efficient and significant numbers of gem-quality diamonds are being recorded. The ultimate objective is to recover a sufficient number of diamonds to permit a statistically reliable evaluation of the economic potentials of the various phases of the Carolina kimberlite.
